Fortumo.com the mobile payment platform for SMEs in Eastern Europe and Asia, has announced its expansion into Western Europe. Fortumo’s service is now available in 26 countries, including nine major Western European countries.
“We have focused so far more on emerging markets in Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, since we wanted to first cover the regions where it used to be more difficult to do SMS payment or other SMS services,” says Fortumo CEO, Martin Koppel. “In addition to providing new and more destinations to our existing customers, we see that our flexible approach to mobile payment will help web businesses to grow in Western Europe as well.”
In addition to mobile payments, Fortumo also enables users to create SMS services without any technical background or cost in just a few minutes. Basic services are aimed at users without any technical skills, while advanced services enable experienced service providers to benefit from the multi-country functionality, a flexible user interface and competitive revenue sharing.
Typical Fortumo users are online game portals, social media application developers and Internet entrepreneurs, as well as radio stations, local newspapers and ad agencies. Koppel estimates that almost 70,000 revenue generating SMS services have so far been created using Fortumo.
Fortumo is available here without any startup or monthly fees.
