Premier League football club Wolverhampton Wanderers has partnered with Oxygen8 Communications to launch a range of new mobile services for its fans. The club is using Oxygen8’s mobile platform to offer supporters the opportunity to receive text message alerts on their mobile phones about upcoming games, fixture changes and special offers.
Oxygen8 says that its mobile platform has been designed to meet the requirements of customers who need to be able to roll out new services quickly and easily, both locally and internationally. Self-provisioning is at the core of the design of the platform, which means that Wolves is able to develop and maintain its own services, and quickly roll out applications, without requiring any technical knowledge.
Wolves Marketing Executive Laura Price says the platform will enable the club to improve its SMS messaging and provide it with the opportunity to communicate with its supporters in new ways. Initially, she says, the club will use the platform to provide mobile alerts about changes to match times and travel arrangements for games, with promotional offers and season ticket renewal information to follow.
“We partnered with Oxygen8 because they have a strong track record in the sports sector, they were very competitive on cost, and their mobile platform is really easy to use which means that we can roll out new services quickly without needing any technical support,” says Price. “In addition, the reporting information that the Oxygen8 platform provides is better than all of the other systems that we looked at, giving us valuable data that we can use to help develop future mobile campaigns.”
