Telefónica O2 Germany has expanded and upgraded its 2G and 3G mobile networks. The modernization has improved the quality of voice services and provides broadband access to subscribers across Germany, while saving energy. Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) carried out part of the core and radio network modernization in a project completed months ahead of schedule.
“This network modernization was essential to ensure we maintain our competitive edge and growth in the German market,” says Telefónica O2 Germany CTO, Andrea Folgueiras. “Nokia Siemens Networks was an ideal partner as it has a strong mix of technology and delivery experience, which has helped ensure that we have a modern, operationally efficient network ready for use, ahead of schedule.”
The network modernization project was carried out by NSN and other companies. Under the contract, NSN supported O2 in the design and implementation of the network, and will also provide maintenance services.
