BlackBerry maker RIM has announced the launch of the Twitter for BlackBerry application in BlackBerry App World. The free app enables users to access direct messages as soon as they arrive, using BlackBerry push); reply to tweets, re-tweet and send direct messages; post a link from their BlackBerry browser; take pictures and upload them to Twitter direct from the camera application; and find and follow friends, or search for popular topics.
The app launched in a closed beta in February, and RIM says it has taken onboard user feedback to enhance the functionality of the app, ahead of the launch. Additional features that have been developed during beta testing include support for lists; profile editing; enlarged profile avatar viewing; and notifications of new tweets and @replies/mentions.
